Discussion on an emergency protocol that usually prevents people or information from leaving an area. The protocol can usually only be initiated by someone in a position of authority. Lockdowns can also be used to protect people inside a facility or, for example, a computing system, from a threat or other external event. The session covers potential emergencies that would require a building or tenancy lockdown response as well as its locations, access and egress points. Highlighted are the basic principle of locking down a facility and the roles and responsibilities of the Emergency Control Organisation in a lockdown scenario.

Emergency plans – from developing to reviewing one – is discussed in detail, together with other key safety information relevant to the changes. Village or Retired Living Staff should be adequately trained in the emergency procedures – emergency procedure training in induction courses for new workers and refresher training for existing workers.
